I joined Ibotta as employee 6, Creative Director & only designer. It took hard work to grow Ibotta from 0 downloads to today’s 400+ person organization with over 20 million downloads and $175 million paid out to users. Services: Creative Direction, Art Direction, Design, UX, Copy, Illustration, Strategy, Product Management… all the things.
At the core of Ibotta’s business is a native app.
Ibotta’s core business is disrupting the coupon industry by delivering micro-rebates on grocery products with transactions that are trackable down to the individual purchase event. For their consumer, they offer more cash back per transaction than paper coupons. It’s a disruptive win-win (such a cliche, but it’s true).
After the work to build & launch, it's time to tell the story.
The general marketing concept at Ibotta is to get a customer to the first payout, and then they'll stay. Not a bad idea when Ibotta gives away cash to its users. To expose potential customers to the value of Ibotta, we relied heavily on word-of-mouth and created incentives and tools to facilitate the conversation.
